Okay so its time for a little rant. What the hell is wrong with movie reviewers today? They are beyond some of the most idiotic people I have ever seen. Earlier this week I was checking out the top movies of 2004 on some site, and to my surprise, some lame chinese action flick got a better rating than "Million Dollar Baby". Oh, it doesn't stop there. Just this past weekend I saw reviews for both "Sin City" and "Beauty Shop" (A spinoff of Barbershop), and lo and behold, "Beauty Shop" gets a better rating than Sin City. My God. It's disgraceful what reviewers have become, giving out 4.0's to movies like "Beauty Shop"... I mean come on... A movie that gets a 4.0 should be one that stays in our mind for a long time... something that leaves an impact on us for the rest of our lives... masterful storytelling, fantastic dialogue, great acting... not crappy scenes of black women screaming "Uh Uh bitch, no you diINT!" What bothers me even more, is that this weekend "Kung Fu Hustle" is released in North American theaters. I'll say that the movie is decent, but to be honest, it doesn't deserve anything higher than a 3 out of 5. After watching the film, It impacted me in no way. Really, it was just 2 hours of mindless drivel and eye-popping action. No REAL beautiful artistry to it... just... Dragonball. thats it. Anywaysm I'm almost certain that this movie will get rave reviews by silly white man movie reviewers who consider it a fantastic movie because its something they have never seen before...primarily the chinese culture. Get a life people, just because its a foreign film and something you've never seen before, doesn't mean its a great movie. My God, movie reviewers need to look at all aspects of a movie before judging it... they don't seem to be doing so these days.
One last little thing that tipped me off. When the Academy Award for best picture in 1998 was "Shakespeare in Love" over "Saving Private Ryan", I just about freaked. To this day, I'm still angry about that. It just goes to show you how retarded our movie reviewers are today. They need new ones that are actually willing to give a decent rating to a good movie. Maybe they're all sex-driven-horny-retarded-action-filled men who like nothing other than to see people have sex. If this is the case, then it's pretty clear why "Shakespeare in Love" won best picture. Let's all applaud a movie that nobody even talks about anymore.
